ABOUT 2010 MSU BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR MICHAEL LINDLEY
Michael Lindley is a 1975 graduate of Michigan State's College of Communications Arts and Sciences with a degree in Advertising. In his early career he worked for some of the country's leading advertising agencies, including Young & Rubicam and Earle Palmer Brown. His clients included General Electric, BellSouth, Intercontinental Hotels, Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and numerous regional banks. In the 1990's he served as Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing of First of America Bank in the Midwest and then National City Bank as the head of Marketing Communications. For the past 7 years he has worked as Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing for Huntington Bank - West Michigan.
He is active in the community, serving on the boards of the West Michigan Sports Commission, the Grand Rapids and Kent County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the Kent District Library Fund and Inforum. Michael also finds time to pursue his writing career. His first two novels set in Charlevoix, Michigan in the 1940's and 50's have been popular library and book club selections and the first, "The Seasons of the EmmaLee", was named a #1 regional fiction bestseller in 2008. He has recently completed his third novel which should be released later in 2010.
Michael and his wife Karen reside in Ada, Michigan with their two children Kristen and Chase, and their mischievous English Setter, Sage.
